At Shinsaibashi Exhibition Room for Osaka City Modern Museum (Tentative Name)
Media: Painting

This exhibition features avant-garde art from the Kansai area dated between the 1930s and the 50s. In the 30s, Surrealism had the biggest influence, while pure abstract art and geometric abstract art became mainstream. Although Surrealism and Abstract Expressionism were interrupted by the war before rooting in Japan, its popularity never ceased and were adopted after the war. After the war, avant-garde art characterized the free spirituality that the Japanese artists craved.
