Media: Photography, Sculpture, Digital, Art Party

After graduating from Kyoto City University of Arts, Noriko Yamaguchi has been working on photography, sculpture and video exploring the relationship between performance and imagination. With past works such as "Keitai Girl" and "Ogura Hime", Yamaguchi has released self portraits that are inspired and linked to artificial intelligence and mythology.
In "Peppermint Mother", Yamaguchi focuses on the erotic act of chewing gum-a process used to cure bad breath or to distract "mouth hunger". Peppermint Mother is a character created by Yamaguchi and is covered with chewing gum. Through video, sculpture and photography, a narrative develops surrounding the protagonist and her children. The video incorporates stop-motion animation where tremendous pieces of gum cover up the artist's body.
