The exhibition started in 1948 under the slogan, "anyone may participate freely." The museum calls works from the public, and this year there has been an immense amount of applications and thus has slightly changed the jury process. The exhibition is the 59th in its series.

Note:If Monday is a National Holiday, the museum will be open on Monday but closed the following Tuesday. Closed for the year-end holidays. The following dates will be closed in 2007 due to installation: 6/19 (Tue), 9/19 (Tue), 12/11 (Tue).
