"30 Years After Tadaoto Kainosho's Death: Rough Sketches and Drafts, Continued" Exhibition
This event has ended.
At Gallery Raku
Media: Painting, Drawing
The exhibition features rough drafts and sketches by Japanese painter Tadaoto Kainosho (1894-1978). Kainosho studied art in Kyoto, and after becoming frustrated with the academia of art, he formed a group with his peers and held exhibitions. Most of his works were created in the Taisho and early Showa periods, and his works often portrayed the mystical beauty of female figures.
In the Showa period, Kainosho became involved in the film world, and eventually drifted away from the art world. However, he still held a strong interest towards art and maintained creating sketches. Hence, the exhibition title hints towards the continuation of his art career.
This exhibition features about 30 rough sketches and drafts. Most of works in this exhibition will be exhibited for the first time.
