Hiroshi Nonami "Diptych"
This event has ended.
At Gallery Athens Arts
Media: Photography
Hiroshi Nonami's Muses and his fantastical world are not created through a digital process, but solely by the hands of the artist. This theme of this exhibition is the Odalisque, a Harem woman who was a slave for the Turkish Sultan. In the past, artists such as Matisse and Ingres have painted her.
Hiroshi Nonami sees Odalisque as a muse who is half animal and half god, and contains both virginity and defilement. His Odalisque attracts viewers with a strong presence that contain polar opposite elements. The title "Diptych" means a two-folded screen, of "aphrodisiac" and "euphoric".
