Was able to visit on the first day. A beautiful autumn day to view the containers filled with art. Most of the works in the containers were installations with a majority using video. I can see how these containers become excellent installation space for those types of works (flexible lighting, rectangular room, soundproofing from the exterior), however, when encountering the non-installation type works, it felt rather bland and luckluster. Even within the installation works, good works were far and inbetween. Personal favorites were the scented pig installation, and the spinning wheel installation.
On a final note, visitors should check out the Ikebana exhibitions... they are quite outstanding!! (Even from the eye of a non-Ikebanaist!!)
This was a great exhibition. There were over 50 containers on the day I went and each one was pretty amazing.. A lot were based on one's perception of the world around them, and a few were just WTH!?! Regardless, each container didn't fail to surprise and there were many favourites. If you're not into traditional art, and if you like a lot of installations involving contructed worlds + light/projections...
you'll love it. I loved it. :)
Be sure to check out a discount ticket vendor to get cheaper entry tickets to the event. I hear it's pretty busy on the weekends..
