Arata Cho (Born Tokyo, 1927-2005) was a contemporary picture book author and cartoonist. He started his career as a single frame cartoonist in the 1950s, and since then has expanded his works in picture books, illustrations, cartoons and essays. The exhibition looks at Cho's accomplishments by selecting illustrations from over 400 books as well as about 120 works of original illustrations.

明日終了なので本日行ってきました。
さすが日曜日、混み具合もなかなかよろしいもので。
以前「チョーさん」の「キャベツ君」をジャケ買いして読んだのですが、こどもでも大人でも楽しめるような愉快な内容、そして独特の作風がよかったです。
今回大丸で行われた展覧会は絵本の原画、イラストなどたくさんありました。特に、長さんの社会風刺のイラストと絵本のイラストを対比することにより、ますます彼の表現者としての魅力に惹かれました。
美大を出て、スケッチなどをする日常から離れてしまった今、もう一度絵を書いてみたい！と思えました。
