This exhibition features Tomoyuki Sawa's sculptural works that employ Japanese lacquer. These works are inspired by his sensitivity towards the changing seasons and nature, with the Japanese conception of this phenomena. Combined with Sawa's lacquer skills, he creates figurative sculptural works.
His special skills in lacquer have allowed him to go beyond reproduction of objects. He gives his works a sense of character and presence that is freed from the creator's intention.
