This event has ended.

Exhibition of ancient bronze wares from Japan and East Asia. In Japan, bronze was fashioned into objects ranging from the richly-decorated bronze bells (dotaku) believed to have been used in rituals, to weapons (dohoko, doken and doka) and mirrors. Bronze fell out of use as a material for weaponry once iron was discovered, but continued to be used in large-scale gongs and bells, many of which dating as far back as the 3rd century AD have been found on remote hillsides. Old bronze wares are known to develop an appealing patina and green colour. This is a chance to rediscover this beautiful and little-understood art form.
