This event has ended.

In 1902 Chu Asai was appointed as professor in the Faculty of Design course in Kyoto Handicraft High School (now the Kyoto Institute of Technology).
Though he is most well known for his oil paintings, he became interested in Art Nouveau while he was studying in France for two years, at the time of the Paris Exposition of 1900, and upon his return to Kyoto his interest in design gained new strength.
This exhibition, which was developed in cooperation with the Kyoto Institute of Technology Museum and Archives, features a number of posters which Chu Asai and his co-workers brought from Paris as lecture material for the design course of the Kyoto Handicraft High School, with with turn of the century Parisian designs, brilliantly illustrated by Toulouse-Lautrec and Jules Chéret.
