This event has ended.

Kazuo Okazaki carved out an important place in postwar Japanese art history with sculptures made using diverse methods and materials according to his “Gyobutsuhoi” (Object Supplement) theory of 1963, which advocated adding overlooked or forgotten items to sculptures. Nobuaki Onishi, meanwhile, referenced printmaking techniques in creating colorful plastic duplicates of everyday items. “Born Twice,” the title of this exhibition of works from Okazaki’s “Hisashi” and Onishi’s “Vacuum” series, points to the artists’ practices of giving objects second lives, as well as the regenerative power of their artistic creativity. There will also be a film featuring oral histories of both artists.
