This event has ended.

Minako Nishiyama is part of the first generation of artists to adopt Japan’s subcultures as a medium. Since the mid-1980s she has been noted for her paper pulp sculptures interfacing with feminine culture, for instance “The PINKÚ House” (1991), an enormous structure reminiscent of the doll Licca-chan’s home. Other work recreates a wing of the Takarazuka theater stage. This exhibition focusing on a selection of drawings from the early 2000s through new works also features objects and reliefs harking back Nishiyama’s early period of interest in the color pink, starting in 1989.
