The 19th century English artist Waltern Crane (1845-1915) laid the foundation for the contemporary picture book. The first major exhibition for Crane in Japan features 140 examples of his work, including nearly all of his illustrated books and most important illustrations. Also displayed are 40 works by other artists from the golden age of picture book-making, including Kate Greenway and Randolph Caldecott.
