Shingeki (new theater) is a genre of modern drama introduced to Japan by theatrical activities from Western Europe. Encompassing modern Japanese theater, stage art, film, and other cultural genres, it continues to exert a broad influence. This exhibition spotlighting Shingeki in Kansai from the postwar era through the 1960s offers a look at Kansai theaters, dramatists, actors, props, and other documentation of the movement.
