Presented in this 8th Maya Maxx exhibition are 50 new works produced during two years of her struggle with painting, where countless layers of paint eventually resulted in a black surface. A primary colour, black could also be said to be the fullest of all colours. The color “gen” in Japanese is a black that includes tints of red or yellow. Referred to as the color of outer space or the root of all things, Maya Maxx finds her answer here after 2 years of facing her inner self.
