This event has ended.

Anna & Eve is a narrative project which began in 2005 and lasted 7 years. Like much of Viktoria Sorochinski’s work, Anna & Eve dwells between fantasy and documentary. The staged scenes reveal the peculiar relationship of Anna and Eve, whose roles as mother and daughter seem to flip. Sorochinski’s production methods and mythical framework reflect her interest in folklore, its symbolism and common knowledge, as well the moral values and influences it holds on children’s perceptions of what is good and bad. With the relationship of Anna and Eve at its starting point, the work does not draw from any particular folk tale, but rather, through phantasmagorical production methods and Sorochinski’s unique interpretation of the mother-daughter relationship, the artist gives birth to a new kind of mythology. This exhibition is Sorochinski’s first solo exhibition being held in Japan, and presents a selection of both earlier and later works from Anna and Eve, a world in which fantasy and reality blurs and merges into each other.
