This event has ended.

Robert Frank is one of the pre-eminent figures of twentieth-century photography, whose work has had a significant influence on photographers of his own and subsequent generations. With his method of sequencing and composing pictures in intuitive series beyond the traditional photographic essay, he has developed new forms of expression within the medium of photography. Born in Zurich, Switzerland, in 1924, Frank immigrated to the United States in 1947 and has since produced work that redefined the aesthetics of both the still and the moving image. His book The Americans, first published in 1958, is arguably the most important American photo book of the post-war period. Throughout the 1960s Frank concentrated on filmmaking, creating a new oeuvre within the boundaries of fiction and documentary. He lives in New York and Nova Scotia, Canada.
