This event has ended.

Kazuma Koike’s work draws inspiration from motifs in everyday life and also from myths. Since 2015, his paintings have featured anything from spiritual figures to plants, pots, or even drum sets, usually presented against a monochrome background. By superimposing these motifs with clever compositions, Koike’s works have a unique sense of “quietness” and levitation, like a mixture of multiple timelines. This exhibition presents his latest paintings and recent ceramic sculptures. Koike is interested in “Shinbutsu Syu-go,” a Japanese philosophy that strives to attain “a state where different elements coexist in harmony” while also referring to “processes that change the purpose and meaning of things.”
