The Ceremony of the Utakai Hajime is an annual Imperial Court event which connects the Imperial Family to the general public through poetry. The theme of the 22nd annual Utakai Hajime Exhibition is “the outdoors,” where people go to rest and refresh themselves in today’s hectic society. Modern artists present some 40 works of painting, sculpture, and craft depicting these revitalizing green spaces.
