This exhibition features analog black-and-white photographs taken in Kyoto. The artists portray the daily life of young people, with some scenes that include them wandering on the streets. Opening Event: April 29th (Tue) 19:00-

This exhibition features works by the sci-fi cartoonist Fukujiro Yokoi, commemorating 60 years since his death. In December of 2007, a book was released documenting his works and its power of how it influenced the famous Osamu Tezuka. The exhibition will showcase the stone gorilla works and gorilla paintings of Hiroshi Abe.

This is Noritake Kinashi's new challenge. The works were created with the influence of many artists, with lively colors and curves. Satirizing the society with a good sense of humor and a positive vigor, Noritake uses colors to indicate the importance of family and friends, and the "memories of the heart". Studio Frog, of Tottori Prefecture, make figurines, diorama, accessories and straps with the motif of frogs, as well as other reptiles, amphibians and so forth. This exhibition will feature an installation focusing on the cute, little creatures that inhabit woodlands and the sea.

The Tale of the Genji is a Japanese novel that depicts the joy and pain of love. In 1008, the novel was read in the royal court. This year, the museum celebrates its 20th year of existence along with the millennium of the masterpiece. The exhibition features paintings that depict scenes from the narrative, and artworks that depict the lifestyle prevalent then. *Exhibiting at exhibition rooms on 3rd & 4th floors

"In Japan from old times the phrase 'night and day' has implied a comparison of the negative and positive. At a Javanese antique dealer's I found a daring old calico dyed in the colors of night and day; the dealer told me it was called 'night and day' in English. The duality of sun and shadow reaches from a religion to daily life. I will want to send a gust of wind through the the space woven by the partial sunlight and shadow in the town houses of Kyoto." This exhibition is organized by the photography club of the Ritsumeikan University.
