The Wakayama Prefectural Museum opened as a public museum managed by the Wakayama Board of Education in April 1971. The museum promotes the abundant cultural treasures found in Wakayama Prefecture through exhibitions and research. Acquisitions include resources on the Takano Kumano religion and artifacts from the Tokugawa family.

Note:Open on a public holiday Monday but closed the following day. Closed during the New Year holidays.

Adults ¥280; University Students ¥170; High School Students and under Free; Foreign Students studying in Wakayama Prefecture, Seniors over 65 and Registered Disabled Free. Special Exhibition Fees may be charged separately.

From Wakayama Station on the JR and Nankai lines, take the #1 or #2 bus to Kencho-mae stop. The venue is a 2 minute walk from there.
