Gallery Kei
Gallery in The Kyoto Nakagyo-ku area
From ancient times, Japanese people have produced threads and materials from various trees and grasses, such as Wisteria, Elm, Linden, Kudzu, Paper Mulberry, Banana tree, Hemp and Ramie, in turn weaving textiles in order to cloth themselves and furnish everyday tools. Such techniques are simple and yet greatly impress us today with their beauty and freshness. Gallery Kei deals in these traditional folk crafts and pottery, reaching far beyond the usual range of antique goods, including antique bast fiber textiles, or primitive textiles as they are known.
