Kyoto National Museum
Museum in The Kyoto Higashiyama-ku area
Established in 1897 in the Higashiyama district of Kyoto, this museum focuses on early works of art, cultural artifacts and archaeological finds from Kyoto, Japan and East Asia. The Collections Hall, which houses the permanent collection, exhibits archaeological artifacts, ceramics and Buddhist sculpture, as well as ancient to early modern paintings, calligraphy, textiles, lacquerware and metal works. The Special Exhibition Hall, which was built in the Meiji Period (1868-1912), features special exhibitions that are held for a limited period.

7 minute walk from Shichijo Station on the Keihan line; from JR Kyoto Station take the #100, #206 or #208 bus and get off at Hakubutsukan Sanjusangendo-mae stop. The venue is 1 minute walk from there.
