Kyoto Municipal Museum of Art
Museum in The Kyoto Sakyo-ku area
Founded as the second largest public art museum in Japan. Since opening in 1933, this museum has played an important role in the development of the Kyoto art scene, holding permanent, special, municipal and group exhibitions. In response to the requests for greater international exchange, the museum has also frequently collaborated in important exhibitions abroad since the end of the Second World War. Besides acquiring and exhibiting works of modern and contemporary art, the museum also carries independent research projects, supports cultural promotion activities and artists.

9 minute walk from Higashiyama Station on the Tozai subway line; from Kawaramachi Station on the Hankyu line or Sanjo Station on the Keihan line, take the bus and get off at Bijutsukan-mae stop. The venue is a short walk from there.
