Otani Memorial Art Museum, Nishinomiya City
Museum in The Kobe area
In 1971, Nishinomiya City opened the Otani Memorial Art Museum to share the modern art collection donated by Takejiro Otani (former president of Showa Electric Company). Otani had also donated the building, and the museum opened its doors to the public on November 3, 1972. Since then, the museum has hosted many exhibitions and events. The Bologna International Picture Books Exhibition, held annually, constantly attracts a wide range of people from children to the elderly. The "Field Trip to the Museum, a One-Day Exhibition," which began in 1997, attracts many curious visitors intrigued by its innovative concept. In addition, special exhibitions are held 2-4 times a year.
