The Tanabe City Museum of Art aims to provide a comfortable place where visitors can view local art from the Tanabe-Kinan region (Wakayama, Nara, and Mie prefectures). The museum aims to include the following genres its collection: Portraits of modern writers and artists from the local region; artworks that represent the local culture; artworks that represent the wonderful nature present in the local region.
