Nijo Castle was first commissioned by the Shogun Ieyasu Tokugawa and completed by his grandson Iemitsu who paid particular care to its refined collection of sculptures and paintings through which one may now glimpse the aesthetics of the Momoyama Period(1624-1643).

Note:Closed on every 3rd Wednesday of January, July, August and December. Closed during the New Year holidays. Open on public holidays but closed the following day,
