In April 1991, the Himeji Museum of Literature opened to celebrate local literary figures, engage in research, and become a communal center of literary activities. Designed by Tadao Ando, it is located near Himeji castle. Highlights of the museum include the "Harima Mandara" and the nine famous writers of Harima (the Himeji area) exhibition rooms. The museum also holds special exhibits and seminars.

From 10:00 to 17:00
Closed on Mondays
Note:Open public holidays (including Monday) but closed the following the day. Closed during the New Year holidays.

Fee

Adults ¥300, University and High School Students ¥200, Junior High and Elementary School Students ¥100, Registered Disabled free. Special Exhibition Fees may be charged separately.

From JR Himeji Station, take the #11 or #12 bus and get off at Shinohashi Bungakukanmae stop. The venue is a 3 minute walk from there.
