Ryukoku Museum
Museum in The Kyoto Shimogyo-ku area
A museum of cultural artifacts centered around Buddhism, located across from Nishi Honganji Temple. Its permanent exhibits trace the origins of Buddhism in India and its spread into Asia and Japan, and a number of special exhibitions are held throughout the year on various aspects of Buddhist history. The museum aims to deepen the public's understanding of Buddhist culture as well as advance academic research in cooperation with Ryukoku University and institutions around the world.
