Museum in The Kobe area

The Kurokawa Institute of Ancient Cultures is a non-profit organization established in 1950, when Koshichi Kurokawa (the third director) donated the land, building, and foundation funds for the purpose of preserving and studying the family's collection of ancient cultural items. The Kurokawa collection is composed of many art and craft items from China and Japan. The Chinese art includes boneware, jade, and bronzes of the Yin and Zhou dynasties; mirrors from each period; and paintings, calligraphic works, and stationary goods from the Ming and Ching dynasties. There is also a valuable collection of ancient and modern Chinese coins.
