The Chikatsu-Asuka area of Kawachi was historically where Korean and Chinese cultures were imported to ancient Japan. The museum displays cultural artifacts from the Kofun and Asuka periods, focusing on the theme of "how ancient Japanese culture was established and its impact on international relations". The museum aims to become a central educational institution in promoting the Kofun and Asuka cultures.
