Kyoko Tokumaru: Artist in Residence Lecture & Workshop
The Shigaraki Ceramic Cultural Park
This event has ended.
Kyoko Tokumaru is an artist who is participating in the "Series I: Looking at Japanese Contemporary Ceramics" exhibition, and will be working in the atelier space from June 8th until the end of August. In the 1990s, when Tokumaru graduated from Tama Art University's MFA program, large scale ceramic works that embraced the exhibiting space like installations were very popular. Since then, Tokumaru has produced animal-like forms with organic shapes that are large in scale. In 2001, she studied abroad in the US, held exhibitions and worked in studios at the University of Arizona. In recent years, she has produced table-sized objects made of porcelain.
