This event has ended.

Between the end of the 16th century and the beginning of the 17th century, three generals built castles in Otsu. Nobunaga Oda built the Sakamoto castle in 1571, Hideyoshi Toyotomi built Otsu castle around 1586, and Ieyasu Tokugawa built Zeze castle around 1601. Symbolizing upheaval from the chaotic warring state period to controlled unity, these three castles are an important presence in Japanese history. This exhibition introduces and unveils the castles' mysteries regarding their territories, the structures of the citadel, and their historical functions through relics, and pictorial and historical references.
