"Celebrating the 11th IAAF World Championships in Athletics Osaka 2007: The 'Maestri' of Italian Design" Exhibition
Osaka Municipal Museum of Art
This event has ended.
The exhibition is held in conjunction with the 11th IAAF World Championships in Athletics Osaka 2007 (taking place from 8/25 - 9/2 at Nagai Stadium in Osaka City). Milan, Osaka's sister-city, was established in 4th century BC and is known for its medieval architecture and contemporary fashion design. Thus, tradition and innovation have constantly coexisted in Milan's art and culture. The masters who have created this culture (called "Maestri" in Italian) have also heavily influenced the design world.
In this exhibition, around 110 works from 24 internationally known designers will be on display. With assistance from the city of Milan, Italy, and the La Triennale di Milano Foundation's collection, the exhibited products embrace a synthesis of utilitarian beauty and experimental materiality. Viewers can enjoy works by Italian designers who have taken leadership in the world of product design.
