Takeda Exhibition
Gallery Incurve
This event has ended.
Eiji Takeda (born 1980) finds his motifs on magazine advertisement pages. He reinterprets these advertisements by drawing outlines of the letters and then rearranging them. As a result, relieved from the role of communicative function, the letters become major starring roles in his art. Takeda keeps drafting almost forever, drawing and erasing over and over until the surface of the paper becomes fluffy and worn. When opaque-painted by Takeda himself, the layers of pencil draft lines are invisible, but the indentations from these lines become perceptible and have dramatic effect.
