Ryouhei Koiso "Illustrations for the Bible"
Kobe City Koiso Memorial Museum of Art
This event has ended.
Ryouhei Koiso was asked by the Japan Bible Society to provide accompanying images for a publication of the Bible in 1971. Although 70 scenes from the Bible were suggested, it was up to Koiso to decide which scene to be used for creating the images. This exhibition showcases his 32 watercolor paintings and 43 sketches. Multiple sketches created for single scenes reveal Koiso's ideas for composition and methodology. Alongside the works, the exhibition includes panels displays of the appropriate Bible stories.
