Presenting a never-before-exhibited collection of items from the Meiji and Taisho eras used in sugoroku, a children’s dice game. Sugoroku materials were inserted in the New Year’s editions of popular magazines. Illustrations of other seasonal toys played with during annual Japanese events are also on display, including those by the famous toy designer Kyosen Kawasaki (1877–1942). Visitors are welcome to play sugoroku with replicas of original pieces.
