Tales of Revenge in Ukiyo-e
Kamigata Ukiyoe Museum - Museum of Osaka Prints
This event has ended.
Kamigata Ukiyo-e refers to woodblock prints produced in the Kansai area, particularly Osaka, during the Edo period. The majority of these prints depicted scenes and actors from Kabuki theatre, the most popular form of entertainment at the time, often performed on the streets. This exhibition focusses on prints from kabuki plays that take revenge as a theme, such as Chushingura, the famous tale of the 47 samurai who avenged the death of their lord, Asano Naganori.
