Soetsu Yanagi: A Glimpse at Life
The Museum of Modern Art, Shiga
This event has ended.
An exhibition of large-scale folk art — or “mingei,” as coined by the philosopher Soetsu Yanagi — as well as works by the son of Yanagi, Sori (1915-2011) from the collection the Japan Folk Crafts Museum. Also on display will be Otsu-e, woodblock prints from the Otsu region, which Soetsu Yanagi praised highly as an example of a “craft, rather than an art.”
