This event has ended.

Born in 18th century London J.M.W Turner showed artistic genius from an early age, becoming known as a gifted watercolorist in his mere teens and going on to prove his mastery as he developed into oil painting, earning himself membership of the esteemed Royal Academy at 26 years of age. In his mature period he continued to question approaches to landscape depiction, capturing all the tempestuousness of nature in his moody shades, while the work of his last years was infused with the light and color of a dream like world. The influence of this great artist upon the likes of Claude Monet and the French impressionists is well documented, while in Japan he is also famed as the most respected artist of Soseki Natsume. This exhibition gathers an impressive array of 30 oil paintings amongst 113 examples of his work, including sketches and watercolors, as loaned from the leading collection of the British Tate gallery.
