The Kamigata Ukiyoe Museum is a museum devoted to the Ukiyo-e prints and paintings produced in Osaka during the Edo period, with one of one of the particular attractions of Ukiyo-e being the strength of color invested in every print, being formed through natural as well as chemically produced pigments by the end of the era. An understanding of the color of Ukiyo-e allows a further insight into the very history of Ukiyo-e and here in this exhibition a special feature is placed on the color red.
