In Manila, the capital of the Philippines, many people move in from rural areas, seeking employment in order to live. They establish dwelling in illegal places such as roadsides, railroads, and dry riverbeds, against their will, and live in extreme poverty, in conditions beyond the imagination. Relief from this situation comes from their deep faith in God. The occasional merciless typhoon causes much havoc but this “wind” is said to connect the souls of this world and the next, and bridge the hearts and minds of different people. A thought-provoking and hopeful series of monochrome works that portray the lives of the people on this island.
