Nihonga: From the Meiji period work of Tessai Tomioka, to the work of Seho Takeuchi and Syunkyo Yamamoto drawing on the currents of Shijo and Maruyama schools of the Kyoto art scene, this exhibition also features the founder of the Japan Art Academy Taikan Yokoyama, his colleague Keisen Tomita and associates of the Kokugakai Bakusen Tsuchida and Kazan Murakami.
Western Painting: Presenting the work of the founder of Meiji western painting Chu Asai, pleinairisme disciples Keiichiro Kume and Saburosuke Okada, Japanese proponents of Fauvism Shigeru Ooki, Tetsugoro Yorozu, Ryusei Kishida and Kazumasa Nakagawa, Nika Association’s Narashige Koide and Sotaro Yasui, Saiko Nihon Bijsutsuin’s Kaita Murayama, Bunten’s Tsune Nakamura, Shunyo-kai’s Kotaro Migishi and other works of the Meiji and Taisho eras.
