Admiring the Moon— Changing, Brilliant Beauty
Itsuo Art Museum
This event has ended.
With its changing shape and mysterious charm, the moon has had a powerful sway over the Japanese soul since antiquity. It has also long been a motif in Japanese art, featured on everything from religious works to ink paintings, picture scrolls, modern screen door paintings, maki-e lacquer boxes, and ceramics. Evoking the moon’s natural and harmonious beauty, this exhibition presents works portraying the moon in writing, painting, craft, decoration, and music.
