On the floor of Lake Biwa, there are over 100 places where bottom deposits can be found. Even from a global scale, this is a very unique thing. In an investigation that has repainted Japanese history, an excavation of the floor of Lake Biwa has been conducted since 1973 (Showa 48), leading to the discovery of many bottom remains.
The Shiga Prefectural Board of Education and the Shiga Prefectural Association for Cultural Heritages will provide a comprehensive introduction to the results obtained from this investigation.
