Yayoi-Period Rulers’ Tombs on the Kawachi Plain

The Kami Site in Kamihigashi of Osaka’s Hirano Ward is an ancient ruin dating to the Yayoi (c. 300 BCE-300 CE) through Nara (710-794 CE) periods. It contains the graves of prominent families who ruled over several settlements on the Kawachi (Osaka) Plain, identified by their burials with ornaments made from precious commodities of the time such as copper and glass. Through these excavated artifacts, this exhibition introduces the society and life of rulers during the Yayoi period.
