Simon Yotsuya "Doll" 2008

This event has ended.

A special collection of work from this leader of doll making in Japan. Having begun to make dolls during his childhood years he came across the work of Hans Bellmer in 1965 and was further inspired to carry on his practice to a new level, taking pioneering steps within the field. This exhibition features a select range of 46 works spanning his career, from the “Mechanical Doll,” an homage to his inspiration Tatsuhiko Shibusawa (novelist, art critic), to the narcissistic “Pygmalionism Narcissism,” introducing both fans and the unfamiliar to the world of Simondoll.
