This event has ended.

The Asuka period, which saw the arrival of Buddhism in Japan, is considered a revolutionary age of cultural enlightenment during which metalwork, pottery, lacquer, glass art, and other forms of craftsmanship were practiced. This exhibition explores the crafts of the Asuka period through archeological artifacts uncovered at the ruins of ancient workshops. In addition to learning about the wisdom and skill of Asuka craftsmanship, visitors can enjoy a segment called “dialogues between ancient and contemporary crafts”, which showcases restored and recreated works.
