Together with the Kushiro City Museum of Art, the Kobe City Koiso Memorial Museum of Art presents an exhibition tracing the development of Western-style painting in modern Japan with works from the collections of the National Museum of Modern Art, Tokyo and the National Museum of Modern Art, Kyoto. Focusing on Japanese artists from the Meiji era onward such as Seiki Kuroda, Takeshi Fujishima, and Tsune Nakamura, it also showcases masterpieces by Western artists including Kandinsky, Klee, and Ernst who had significant influence on Japanese art.
