Fukumi Shimura, born 1924, is a representative Japanese textile artist certified as a Living National Treasure of Japan. On display are sixty complete pieces of traditional Japanese yukata, all of which were woven and dyed by hand using naturally colored dyes to create complex, layered color patterns.
